Welcome
The N.Z.S.D.A. was formed in 1969 at a meeting held in Wellington.
Previous to that, a meeting of dealers held in New Plymouth
earlier that year had decided to form a professional body
for stamp dealers.
Membership was to be available to individuals or companies
whose principal activity was dealing in philatelic material.
In the first five years of the Associations existence
all Annual General Meetings were held in Wellington. This
was followed by four AGMs in Auckland but since then efforts
have been made to have meetings one year in the North Island,
followed by one in the South Island and then one at an overseas
venue (the Association has several Australian members) or
at a smaller centre.
For many years the Association was a member of the International
Federation of Stamp Dealers Associations (IFSDA) but
resigned its membership in 2000. However the N.Z.S.D.A. still
maintains close relations with the Australian and United Kingdom
dealers associations.
